Heraclitus argued that change is the fundamental nature of reality. He believed that everything is in a constant state of flux, and nothing remains the same. He used the metaphor of a river to illustrate this idea: When you step into a river, the water is always flowing and changing, so the river is never the same from one moment to the next.
